Mr Vincent Ukoh: Don't Trade Education For Sports

Pupils of Kembos Group of Schools, Isolo, Lagos, have been advised not to sacrifice their education in pursuit of sports. The chairman of the school's inter-house sports, Mr. Vincent Ukoh, said this during the school's inter-house sports. He also called on parents not to discourage their sports- inclined children but they must encourage them to excel in them.
He said, "Pupils who want to pursue a career in sports must first of all acquire education; it would make them to be in a better position, even after they had quit active sports to do other things." Ukoh who cited some educated sport personalities including two former Super Eagles' strikers, Mr. Segun Odegbami and Mr. Adokie Amiesiamaka, urged the pupils to emulate them. He said, "Sport is part of the school curriculum, and many pupils who participate in sporting activities record improvement in their academic performance."

The school Principal, Mr. Martin Ogu, also said that in the field of education no one could take away sports, because a pupil must effectively combine the affective, cognitive and psychomotor skills before he could make impact as an all- rounded person. He commended the team spirit among the pupils and the teachers, stressing that this was responsible for the crisis-free competition

What do you think? I personally thought he said it all!!!
